UPDATE NOTICES and REVISION HISTORY
for
QUICKFILER (QF)
We try not to overwhelm the user with seemingly daily
updates, but if a problem error arises or if the changes are
judged to be of a major nature, a new version will be
released. The following is a list of historical changes:
Version 1.9
6/14/86
1. Changed the sort-by-date so that the file time is used as
the tie-breaker, then file name.
2. MOVE now will work with the root directory as well as
with subdirectories.
3. Corrected a problem with the Hidden attribute. Previous
versions confused System files with Hidden files.
4. Added an indication of the sort type being performed.
5. Corrected the Ctrl-E prompts and drive\directories
used. Control is now passed to Entry directory with
Current directory used for <F10> file name.
Version 2.0
7/04/86
1. Added ability to hide/unhide directories. Hidden
directories may be renamed and deleted, (if empty).
2. Added time-and-date-stamp alter function where a user may
set current or marked files with either the current system
time/date or with a new user-entered time/date.
3. Allow group hide/unhide and group protect/unprotect.
4. Added form-feed to printer-control menu.

Version 2.1
8/8/86
1. File sizes are now listed in full, true sizes. Previous
versions rounded the filesize up to the next even 1000
bytes.
2. Marked sizes are now more accurate due to the proper file
size displayed.
3. Ctrl-B will backup MARKED files on the current disk\dir
to the alternate disk/directory.
4. Two types of display refresh are now included:
a. Ctrl-R will reread the CURRENT drive/directory and
redisplay the files on that side only (useful after
SHELL or EXEC operations).
b. Alt-R will clear the screen, reread BOTH
drive/directories and redisplay the entire screen
(if anything messes up the display).
5. A bug has been corrected that occured when copying to the
right side (if no drive had yet been selected for that
side) resulting in garbage displayed at top of screen.
6. The List "Help" screen has been removed to make room for
the new features. This information is covered in the
documentation.
7. Alt-V will toggle between hi-intensity white and reverse
video display for marked files. (Useful for monitors
that don't display hi-intensity or bright colors).
You may also include the command line option [V] to
invoke QF with the inverse video option ON.
8. Ctrl-F provides an automatic link with FILECAT (through
FCDISK) that creates a text file on a target disk that
lists files on the disk (in alpha order), filesize, and
description of the file (if the file is included in the
FILECAT database). To use this feature you must have both
FCDISK and FILECAT.

QFILER 2.2
9/17/86
1. "Reading Files" message display corrected.
2. Abort if a directory is over 500 files fixed. QF will now read
ONLY the first 500 files and display a warning.
3. "<E>dit" option has been added to the List command line
options.
4. <F10> no longer toggles sound effects. This key now marks or
unmarks the current file (the same as <F9>), but then advances
to the next file. QFILER is now silent.
5. The Ctrl-P printer setup function is now displayed on the
bottom of the screen instead of in a window in the middle. The
options remain the same.
6. Certain non-fatal I/O errors are now reported by error number
rather than with a verbose message.
7. QFILER now links to Vern Buerg's ARCA, ARCE and ARCV programs
via <Ctrl><A> menu.
8. "L" command-line option and <Ctrl><L> toggle added to turn off
space-left listing at window bottoms for speed consideration on
large fixed disk systems.
9. "\" now recognized to get to root directory via <F5> or <F6>.
QFILER 2.3
10/25/86
1. ARCA link now allows a user-defined path for .ARC file.
2. LITLBOOK address book link added to <L>ist submenu. Requires
LITLBOOK 2.1 or greater.
3. QF2.3 adds the ability to FIND files, much like the WHEREIS
program. This is accomplished by linking to the public domain
FINDIT program. The FIND function is invoked by pressing
<L>ist, then <F>indit. A command line will be furnished where
you enter the file you wish to find (wildcards are allowed --
see FINDIT.DOC) and press return. You may redirect the output
to your printer by appending ">PRN" to the end of the command
line.
FINDIT.COM must be in the QFILER or pathed directory.

4. The command line [L] (spaceleft) option has been removed, as
well as the Ctrl-L option.
5. Command options for ability to preset directories to be
displayed in left and right windows added, plus a change to
command line switches syntax.
SYNTAX:
QF[iler] [LeftDirectoryPath] [RightDirectoryPath] [/[[[M]V]S]
Switches are last in the command line and must be preceeded
with the slash "/" character.
